Flight Training FAQ’s

How long will my training take?

The minimum amount of training time is 40 hrs. The length of time it takes to complete the required training is up to you. The average student scheduling 2-3 lessons each week can expect to receive his or her pilots certification in 5-6 months.

How much will it cost?

The cost of your training again depends on the frequency of your lessons. The closer your lessons are scheduled the more information you will retain and the quicker you will move through the program. If you schedule 2-3 lessons per week you can expect to pay around $9800 to get your Private Pilot license.

Are there set training dates and times?

No. While the syllabus is very structured the scheduling is not. Our instructors are available to fit your schedule.

How many lessons should I schedule per week?

We recommend that you schedule at least 2 lessons per week.

What happens during bad weather?

Although we are fortunate to experience consistently good flying conditions in South Carolina, if due to inclement weather you cannot fly, (which will be at the discretion of the flight instructor), ground school will be substituted. Whenever you have a lesson scheduled, plan on coming in rain or shine.

If my instructor is gone, can I fly with another instructor?

Yes. Although we concentrate your training with a designated instructor because it’s been shown that students progress more rapidly when working with the same instructor, it is beneficial to occasionally have a different instructor evaluate your progress.

What aircraft will I train in?

Eagle Aviation is a Cessna Pilot Center (CPC) and we currently operate the new generation Cessna 172.

What can I do with my license?

Once you’ve received your license you are able to fly wherever you’d like. You’re only limited by your imagination!

After I get my license, can I rent an airplane on my own?

Yes, you can! You can rent the same type of aircraft you trained in, rent an aircraft at any other flight school, or you can purchase an aircraft either individually or in partnership with another pilot or group of pilots.
